Jamaican Easter Bun and Cheese

Easter time has come again! The Jamaican Easter Bun and Cheese is a sandwich eaten during crucifixion season. The bun and cheese is a spin-off of the British hot cross bun (traditionally eaten on Good Friday to symbolize the crucifixion of Jesus).  The Jamaican Easter bun is shaped like a loaf and is filled with local fruits, spices, and molasses, making it different from the old colonial bun. The traditional cheese is the Tastee cheese (This local cheese is a bright orange, canned, processed cheddar cheese known for its thick, rich, salty flavor.)

Jamaican Bun and Cheese is a real, local treat that has become a traditional snack that represents the evolution and combination of the history and people of

Jamaica.
